AK Ecology
Ecology is the science of the relation between living things and their interaction to their environment.
Together, we are encouraged to help these relations to stay in balance. How this balance can look like, how it can be obtained and protected is what we want to find out in numerous and interesting discussions. But we are not the only ones who want to profit from these discussions and so we want to put other people’s attention on the fact that our earth is a valuable good and that it pays off to abstain from certain things.
Especially in times when extreme weather is not a rarity (e.g. in Germany the hurricane Kyrill), it should be clear that it is up to us how we want to live in the future.
If we are not able to protest for our interests, who is it then?
And here are some actions for you to do right after reading this:
1. Calculate how big your carbon footprint is and how many planets we would need if everybody lived the way you do.

2. It is not so hard to change your power company and get environmental friendly energy. Here is a link, where you can see how to switch your provider and how much it costs.

http://www.verivox.de/powerOften, it does not cost more and you do not have to do anything because you new provider takes care of everything.
3. Did you know that when you are cooking, you can save energy by putting a lid on the pot? The water tends to boil over, but at least you know that way that you can turn down the heat.
4. Appliances consume a lot of energy even though are in its own weight in carbon dioxide. So, leave your car at home and use public transportation. And do not even think about flying...
5. You can even care about the climate while buying your groceries. Don’t buy products from overseas, because they had to be transported by car or plane and that emits a whole lot of carbon dioxide. Vegetarians are good people, because livestock breeding and the transport of the animals also emits CO2
